Sundays at 9:00am Pacific via Zoom
This is a group to support practitioners in keeping the five precepts of not killing, not stealing, not engaging in sexual misconduct, not using false or harmful speech, and not abusing substances. The meeting is inspired by 12-step recovery groups but is based primarily on the Buddhist form of reciting the five precepts and then having a Dharma discussion about our practice in trying to keep the precepts.
The meeting format is a 20 min silent meditation followed by round robin sharing and then open discussion with mindful cross talk encouraged. We are sticking to exploring the Buddhist ethical guidelines for laypeople known as “The Five Precepts” as a jumping off point. We recite the short version of all five precepts, then read one of Thich Nhat Hanh’s longer versions for the topic of discussion that day.
